Welcome to Revolutions for Relief! The site that recounts the journey of eight intrepid friends who partnered together to pedal across three continents, a full circumference of the planet, to help raise awareness and funds for World Bicycle Relief. On
October 21, 2011 – 203 days, 16,497 kilometers, 3 bouts of food poisoning, 32
flat tires, and 53 dog chases after setting forth from Hong Kong – the first
segment of this journey finally came to an end as we reached the Atlantic Ocean
in Lisbon. The journals, photos, maps,
and videos on this site recount the euphoric highs and mundane lows of our
experiences on this undertaking. We all
took a break from the bike, but this brief respite did not last for long…
On September 2, 2014, ninety-three days after setting forth from the Atlantic waters of Boston Harbor, we had done it again – this time across North America. With another grand adventure across the northern US and Canada, we were back to the Pacific in Seattle. The journals, photos, stats, and maps have been updated to include stories and highlights from this second tour. We hope that these experiences will provide inspiration and tips for your own cycling adventure, and we would love to hear from you if you decide to set out. And, of course, if you enjoy the site and are inspired by what we have created, please help us in our efforts to broaden understanding of the power of bicycles and to raise funds for bicycles in struggling communities through World Bicycle Relief. Thank you. Enjoy. Then get out and explore! |
